The security of your account is INOVA's top priority. See below for information about how we work together to spot, prevent, and recover from card fraud.

Chip Protection
Your tiny chip offers big protection! One of the biggest sources of card fraud is counterfeit cards, where thieves steal card information by using skimming devices at places like gas pumps and vending machines. Here's a great way to protect yourself:
- Avoid swiping, and instead, either insert your card or "tap" if that option is available and you have the tap symbol on your card.
- With chip cards, your information is encrypted - chips create a secret code that is constantly changing, so even if thieves scan your chip card, they cannot use it without the chip.
- In contrast, magnetic strip cards store information right in the strip, making it easier for thieves to steal your information and create a counterfeit card.
Visa Fraud Monitoring
More protection to keep your account safe.
INOVA's Visa Fraud Monitoring helps keep your account safe by notifying you of potentially fraudulent activity.
How does it work?
Visa Fraud Monitoring sends you notifications that will inform you of any unusual or suspicious activity on your debit or credit card.
How am I notified?
Alerts are sent via email, text, and phone. This is a great time to make sure your contact information with INOVA is current. Log into digital banking and select "Tools", then "Settings", then "Contact".
- Emails will come from [email protected]
- Texts will come from 23618
- Calls will continue to come from (866) 221-4953
Please make sure to save these INOVA numbers to your contacts so you don't miss any alerts and re-route any messages out of your spam folder if necessary.
What should I do when I receive an alert?
You can reply "yes" or "no" to either confirm or deny the activity. If you reply "no" then INOVA will automatically block your card to prevent any additional fraudulent activity.
Fraud Alerts Program Overview
Messaging frequency depends on account activity. For more information, text HELP to 23618. To cancel fraud text messaging services at any time reply STOP to any alert from your mobile device.
For Fraud Alerts support, call 800-826-5465. By giving us your mobile number, you agree that Fraud Alerts text messaging is authorized to notify you of suspected incidents of financial or identity fraud. Release of Liability: Alerts sent via SMS may not be delivered to you if your phone is not in the range of a transmission site, or if sufficient network capacity is not available at a particular time. Even within coverage, factors beyond the control of wireless carriers may interfere with messages delivery for which the carrier is not responsible. Carriers do not guarantee that alerts will be delivered.
